JPD call for Nominations

                                    CALL FOR NOMINATIONS:

                          THE RANDY CRONENWETT AWARD

The Job Placement and Development (JPD) Division of the Michigan Rehabilitation Association is requesting nominations for the Randy Cronenwett Award, known as THE JOB DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR AWARD. This Award is bestowed on that job placement professional recognized by her/his peers for noteworthy service in our Field of Disability. The candidate does NOT have to be a member of either the JPD or the MRA and may work in either the private or public sector.

Randy Cronenwett was an active MRA Board Member, president-elect of the National Job Placement and Development Division (JPD) and past President of the Michigan JPD when he died suddenly on February 4, 2000. The Spring 2000 MRA Newsletter described him well:

Randy worked in both private and public rehabilitation as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). As he often said, however, his true calling was public rehabilitation. He had a passion for placement and loved doing job development. He was among the best in his field.

Randy was a strong advocate for individuals with disabilities. He used creative and individualized approaches to assist his consumers in meeting their employment goals. He was passionate and genuine in his efforts to serve his consumers.

Lynn Boza shared her memories of Randy: I remember Randy as someone who absolutely loved job placement. Where others feared going…..Randy got there and got rehabilitation consumers placed in competitive employment. He loved doing what many fear doing, that is approaching employers and placing people into jobs! He left us far too soon and would probably be able to show us a thing or two in this new era of placement via the Internet.

To continue his legacy, the Michigan JPD started the Randy Cronenwett Award, bestowed on that Job Placement Professional recognized by his/her peers, by employers and by consumers. In his memory, the JPD respectfully asks each and every person reading these words to consider nominating one of your peers, one of those top professionals in our field that exemplify and carry on the legacy of Randy Cronenwett.

There is no formal application process other than sending us the name of your nominee and as many supportive words as you wish to share. Your nomination may be mailed to us with other nomination letters you may have gathered as well.

Let us recognize and honor one of our own this year. We will be conferring the Award at the Annual JPD Luncheon on Thursday, November 8, 2012. Please have all nominations submitted no later than June 30, 2012 to:
